Safety still hoping for an offer

Time may be running out but Vernon Harris is still holding out hope that Boston College decides to offer him a scholarship. The Eagles have been talking to him for a long time and Harris would have a ton of interest if that offer comes his way.
Harris is one of the top safeties available from Florida in the 2012 class but he's still waiting on that coveted first offer to come through. While the offers haven't come the interest continues to flood in.

"I've just started talking to a couple of schools," Harris said this week. "I'm still being recruited by Wisconsin. This week alone a couple of schools came by and started talking to me. West Virginia has come by and I just talked to Ohio State (on Tuesday). Then Boston College is still in there."
What exactly are the Eagles saying to the 6-foot, 166-pound athlete?
"The last time I talked to them was last week," he recalled. "I talked to Coach (Ryan) Day.
"Basically they're just letting me know that they're going to look at my highlights and they'll let me know if they're going to do something."
That's enough for Harris to keep his hopes up but still not quite enough for him to get too excited.
Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas lost in the third round of the playoffs. The final score was 6-3, indicating a defensive battle, so Harris can think back to plenty of plays that could have tipped the final score in their favor.
Harris spent most of the season at free safety or strong safety.
"I definitely improved in a lot of areas," he continued. "This year I think I was able to come down and play in the box a lot better and I improved my tackling. I also worked on my cover skills."
If the Eagles were to offer they would be in great shape.
"I would definitely show interest in BC if I get a scholarship from them. I kind of like the tradition they've got up there. I actually know a player up there, Curt Evans. I think they call him Spiffy up there, though," he laughed.
At this point Harris maintains he doesn't have any favorites and is just waiting for an offer to come in.
