Rivals250 OT picks up BC offer

Don't ever accuse Coleman Hutzler of backing down from a real fight on the recruiting side of his job responsibilities.
BC's assistant coach for the major talent centers of Texas and California has built a reputation as a bit of a pit bull recruiter in those parts, because of his willingness to log a lot of hours in an effort to bring in talent, and his willingness to offer a lot of players.
His latest offer to go out went to Grayson Reed, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive tackle from Houston (Tex.) Cy-Creek.
EagleAction.com caught up with Reed shortly after the offer.
"I saw it coming because I've talked to them since about springtime," Reed said. "I talked to them last week and they told me they were probably going to offer. They just wanted me to give them another call. Whenever I called (Hutzler) and he answered the phone he was like, 'I'm gonna hit you with this right now. You have an offer from Boston College.'"
For a player who already had offers from Boise State, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, new offers don't necessarily faze him. But the BC offer was one he was very pleased to pick up.
"I'm pretty excited. It's my first ACC offer and it's a big-time school," Reed said.
But that's not all.
"I know they put out a lot of offensive linemen. Their head coach used to be an O-Line coach, too, so that's pretty cool," he said.
Reed said he's not sure if he will visit Boston College, noting the difficulties involved as a player from Texas. But he did say that he wants to visit at some point.
"I think it'd be worth it to go see what it's like up there around Boston," he said.
Reed has nine offers altogether. He has already visited Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Baylor, TCU, Houston and Texas Tech.
