Maryland QB is on BCs radar

BC continues its search for a 2017 quarterback that's an accomplished passer. Here's an update on one of the Eagles' targets.
While one would imagine that Todd Fitch is becoming more personally involved in BC's pursuit of his top quarterback targets it's still noteworthy that Ben Albert is reaching out to Alex Barker, a junior pro-style quarterback from Elkton (Md.) Eastern Christian Academy.
Barker certainly looks the part of an ACC quarterback. He's 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds and he's got early offers from Ohio and Youngstown State.
Over the summer Barker visited West Virginia and it seems the Mountaineers have showed good interest.
Barker told EagleAction.com this week that BC, Miami, Wake Forest, Rutgers, WVU, Purdue< Notre Dame, Virginia and Ohio are the schools that have been showing the most interest.
So far this year he's 84 of 112 through the air for 1,054 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions. Though he's a pro-style according to the label he's also shown he can move the chains when he needs to with his legs. He's rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown although passing is clearly his preference.
"Coach Albert is the guy who recruits my area and I get a lot of mail from them," Barker said this week.
"Great program. Love the campus and the coaches. Just haven't got the offer yet," he added.
Barker attended the PA Swag 7-on-7 just before the summer and there Mid-Atlantic analyst Adam Friedman ranked him the No. 12 overall competitor.
"Barker will be the next quarterback for Eastern Christian Academy," Friedman wrote months before the start of Barker's junior season. "And it looks like they will be in good hands. A lefty, Barker is very good at putting touch on his passes. He already has a pretty good understanding for the offense and did a good job of finding his receivers in the middle of the field. Barker's recruitment has yet to take off but there will surely be schools interested in landing his commitment."
