Akeel Lynch was supposed to take an official visit to Oklahoma this weekend but those plans had to change. EagleAction.com spoke with the 6-foot, 205-pound running back from Athol Springs (N.Y.) St. Francis on Sunday to find out the latest.
This was supposed to be a big weekend for Lynch and not only because of the trip to Norman.
Oklahoma's coaches had basically told him that an offer was waiting for him. They just wanted to size him up in person and let him get a feel for the campus before they made it official. Now all of that will have to wait.
"I didn't go because there was a storm in Buffalo on Friday so I just had to stay home," Lynch explained early Sunday afternoon.
Lynch admitted he was disappointed by the circumstances but he didn't seem too down. He plans on rescheduling as soon as possible.
"They're going to call me on Monday and schedule me for another time," Lynch said.
Monday will be a big day because not only will Lynch be talking to the Sooners, but Penn State will be coming by for an in-home visit.
Just before this weekend Lynch told EagleAction.com that Penn State's new coaching staff, under head coach Bill O'Brien, had reached out to him and made an eleventh-hour pitch. Lynch admits he is very interested in what the Nittany Lions have to say and he would like to visit Happy Valley before Signing Day.
Lynch again said he remains verbally committed to Boston College, but only time will tell whether that commitment sticks.
