Local quarterback lands offer

Tim Boyle camped for three days at Boston College this summer and a few weeks later the Middletown (Conn.) Xavier pro-style quarterback picked up his first offer from the Eagles.

It was a big deal to the 2013 prospect who said he really loved his experience in Chestnut Hill and hit it off with new offensive coordinator Kevin Rogers. That could be an important relationship moving forward as Boyle gets more popular on the national scene.

Syracuse has also offered and Boyle, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound prospect who said Connecticut, Rutgers and Temple are showing interest.

"I went to Boston College camp for three days and about three weeks later I got an offer from Boston College and then I headed up to Syracuse and I got an offer at Syracuse," Boyle said. "I've been staying in touch with UConn, Temple and Rutgers. I've been having a blast and it's going really well right now.

"BC is a great place. I'm not favoring anybody right now but BC and Syracuse are two great universities. At Boston College I like their campus, the camp was useful. I like their new offensive coordinator, Kevin Rogers.

"He really knows what he's talking about and when I got the offer from BC I was a sophomore at the time and there was no bigger dream so my parents don't have to pay for college. That was a good day when I got that."

Boyle, who split time in his sophomore season throwing for about 800 yards, really liked how Rogers handled the quarterbacks at camp.

"Everything he talks about was interesting," Boyle said. "He talked about what you need to be thinking about on every down. Just everything that came out of his mouth was beneficial to my learning of the game of football. He's a great guy, I have a lot of respect for him, we have a good relationship and I hope to build on it."

Boston College is definitely one of the schools standing out to Boyle but since he's only entering his junior season he's nowhere near ready to make a decision.

Next summer Boyle hopes to visit some schools in Florida, in the South and on the West Coast to see if he could pick up more offers.

"I'm going to play it by ear and see if anything else comes this year," Boyle said. "I'm going to play out my junior year and I'm going to hit some bigger colleges up next summer.

"I'm probably going to go to Florida, I'm going to hit the West Coast and I'm going down South to just see what follows. I'll take my unofficial visits and my official visits and see which place is best for me."
