Junior TE has five early favorites

Chris Burton looks the part of a college tight end. At 6-foot-3 and 240-pounds he's a prototypical prospect and a potential matchup problem at the college level.
That's one reason schools are so intrigued by the Danville (Va.) George Washington prospect.
Boston College is hitting the state of Virginia hard early with Class of 2013 prospects and while there aren't any commitments there are plenty of signs that those efforts are causing some kids in the state to take a hard look at the Eagles.

Burton doesn't have an offer from the Eagles but he attended BC's first junior day of the year and came away with a good impression of the school.
"I liked the academic part of the school a whole lot," Burton said. "I liked the coaching staff and the things they were saying to us.
"I talked to Coach Commissiong and the tight ends coach while I was up there. They're real cool guys and they're all business. They said they're planning on recruiting me and they want to show me how things are done."
In fact, the trip went so well the Eagles are in Burton's top five.
"I'm really liking Boston College, Maryland, Clemson, Virginia Tech and North Carolina State," Burton told EagleAction.com.
"I don't have one favorite. For some reason I always shift them around."
Maryland is another school Burton has visited and the Terrapins made a strong impression as well.
"It was nice up there," he recalled. "Once again, I liked their academics. That's really what I pay attention to when I go to college ... that and how the coaches carry themselves."
Burton said he has been in contact with all of his favorites except Clemson. He doesn't know which school might be closest to offering but he's confident he's in a good position with most of those schools.
He will attend a junior day at NC State on February 18.
Burton describes himself as an all-around tight end that can block and catch passes.
"The way our offense is set up we do a lot of both," he said. "We run the ball and pass a lot."
As a junior at George Washington, Burton caught 16 passes for 315 yards.
