Eagles Target Ondigo on BC, "They're a Player or Two Away"

The Boston College Eagles have made 2017 prep standout Malik Ondigo a high-priority since the season ended two weeks ago. Boston College head coach Jim Christian was in Arizona last week to visit with Ondigo in his family at their home.

The 6-foot-10 athletic Arizona native played a post graduate season at Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut this year. He recently cut down his list to just five schools: Texas Tech, Purdue, Colorado, Nevada, and Boston College.

Ondigo recently spoke with Julius Kim of ElevateHoops.com and broke down the schools on his top five list. Here's what he said about Boston College...

Boston College: “I saw them play against Notre Dame when I took the unofficial there and I can honestly see what they’re saying when they’re a player or two away from being a competitive team in the ACC. They have a good backcourt with (Kyran) Bowman, (Jerome) Robinson and with one averaging 14PPG and the other 18PPG; they’re tough. They have a really young team with a lot of them being freshmen and sophomores but they’re going to come and build together. Overall, they’ve shown a lot of interest and they have a good situation with them having great academics and I like it out there.”

Ondigo also talked about scheduling his official visits in the article with ElevateHoops.com, he's already unofficially visited BC once.

He told ElevateHoops.com, “We are working on the visits right now. With Boston College having a snowstorm and Purdue and Nevada playing in the tournament, we are trying to figure things out. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I can have all of my visits set.”

Ondigo also said in the article that he'd like to have his decision made in April, "I don’t want to carry this process on into May.”

Many people believe, like Malik, that the Eagles are just a player or two away from being a solid ACC basketball team next season. A majority think the most important addition to the roster before next season should be a capable big man that can protect the rim, control the defensive glass, and score when called upon.

Can that be Malik?
