Eagles, Deacs lead for junior LB

Alex Anzalone is a linebacker you probably haven't heard too much about just yet. All of that could change shortly as the 2013 prospect is starting to create a buzz.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound prospect from Wyomissing Area (Pa.) has been in talks with several schools from across the region and beyond.

"I just got off the phone with Rutgers about an hour ago," Anzalone said early this week.
"Boston College has obviously been recruiting me. Wake Forest, Purdue, Penn State and a couple of others have, too."
During the season Anzalone attended a game at Wake Forest and he said the Demon Deacons impressed them in the short time he was in Winston-Salem.
"I'm going to junior days at Wake Forest, Boston College and Rutgers," he added.
Of course, Anzalone is referring to the January 28 junior day at Chestnut Hill, so the Eagles will have a golden opportunity early to roll out the red carpet and make an impression. Only time will tell whether BC plans on offering but it's always good to put your best foot forward early in the process.
"Actually I've been sending e-mails to Boston College for a while now but a couple of weeks ago I heard back from Coach Siravo. He said he loved my film and my grades and that's when he said he wanted me to come up for the junior day," he noted.
"I know the academics are obviously really good and they're definitely a good program. The football program is good. Boston's a good city. That's about all I know so far."
Will location be a factor?
"That's not really a factor," he responded. "Obviously I favor being close to home but anything within like seven hours is fine."
This year Anzalone played running back on offense and strong safety on defense, where he registered 58 solo tackles.
Given his size and frame it's likely that he will be playing linebacker, probably on the outside, in college.
As for early favorites?
"Definitely Wake Forest and Boston College just because of the academics. I haven't visited too many schools yet, though."
