Eagles add a running back for 2012
George Craan had been holding out hope that he would have the opportunity to join the Boston College football team. When Signing Day came and passed he had to feel a little let down.
Just a few weeks later the 5-foot-10, 205-pound running back from Concord Carlisle is an Eagle after all.

"It officially happened on Saturday," Craan told EagleAction.com, referring to his commitment. "I knew I was in the process or on the hot seat for getting an offer last week. It was just the process of getting through admissions and once that happened I officially became a Boston College Eagle."
The Eagles first started recruiting Craan during his junior season, when the staff showed a lot of interest. He attended BC's camp and the coaches went to visit him at his school after that.
"I've been there a couple of times," Craan said. "I'm a Boston kid so Boston College is the school to go to if you're watching sports. I've been to a couple of hockey games, spring practices, the spring game and things like that."
The coaches did a good job of welcoming Craan and making him feel wanted.
"I've got a good relationship with the coaches. I like all of them, especially the head coach. He's a down to earth guy and when we first met I was a little nervous but he's a cool guy and they've got a welcoming staff. It's always good to be in a place like that."
The Eagles have recruited Craan as a running back, a position he has played for many years.
Last fall he rushed for 1,900 yards and 25 touchdowns en route to League MVP honors for the second consecutive year.
"I'm real excited," he added. "Playing for your home town, there's nothing like it. Especially BC. It's not only sports but the education."
Earlier in the recruiting process Craan had entertained heavy interest from UConn and Maryland, among others.
