COMMITMENT: Vrabel picks BC

Boston College landed another commitment late Monday when Tyler Vrabel picked a future with the program.

The 6-foot-4, 255-pound offensive tackle from Houston (Tex.) St. Pius X had camped at Boston College recently.

Vrabel announced his commitment to the Eagles via his personal Twitter account around 10 p.m. EST.

"First I would like to thank my parents for supporting me throughout my life," Vrabel's commitment message read. "I also want to thank my coaches for developing me into the person I am on and off the field. Lastly, I want to thank all of the coaches and programs that gave me an opportunity to play for their school. I have decided that I am going to commit to Boston College to continue my academic and athletic career."

Back on June 14th, EagleAction.com had reported that, according to a source, Vrabel had been one of the top performers at a recent Boston College summer camp.

Vrabel told EagleAction.com following that camp performance, "I think I did alright. Coach (Steve) Addazio offered me the next day when I visited the campus."

He was impressed with what he saw and experienced on that first visit.

"It was awesome. I love the coaches and everything about BC. The football facility is really nice and I liked how compact and nice the campus is. The business school was also very nice," he said.

Up to that point, that early June camp at BC, Vrabel had visited Cincinnati and Houston. He was planning to visit Cincinnati the following week again.

Vrabel is the son of Mike Vrabel, once a linebacker at Ohio State before becoming a star NFL player, and now the defensive coordinator for the Houston Texans.
