Bridges gets ACC opportunity

BC became Weston Bridges' first Power Five conference offer on Thursday. Because of that he's ready to look at the Eagles in a new light.
Bridges, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound running back from the Class of 2017, has been on the BC radar for quite some time. Prior to Thursday he had received offers from Akron, Bowling Green, Kent State and Toledo.

For a month Bridges has been in contact with the BC coaches.
"I honestly don't know what got that started," Bridges told EagleAction.com. "I think they had seen my film. The running back coach told me I was a great back and he said he's going to love to get to know me and hopefully get to coach me one day.
"He said I was a very fast, physical back. He was like, 'You're one of those backs that can do it all.' He told me to keep working because I have the size to put on 10 or 15 more pounds and he said he wants me to be a great back at Boston College."
Bridges said that Al Washington has emphasized the academic angle of the school heavily in their conversations thus far.
"He was definitely telling me about the academics," Bridges said. "The academics are supposed to be crazy there.. He said that's the most important thing there. He's talked about how the program is off to a slow start (in 2015) but they're getting better and better.
"Up front on the offensive line they're banged up and very young. But they're going to improve and he said they're going to change me into a better player and a better man for life," he said.
Bridges went on to say he would "definitely want to" take a visit to BC at some point, although he had already calculated the drive to be between 10 and 11 hours.
Besides the schools that have offered Bridges said he's heard from Ohio State, Alabama, Penn State, Tennessee, UCLA, Michigan State, Kentucky, Indiana and others.
He plans to vsiit Indiana this Saturday.
Bridges acknowledged that BC's offer has added meaning because it's his first offer from a Power Five school.
During the 2015 season the junior running back had 185 carries for 1,620 rushing yards and 29 rushing touchdowns with two receiving scores.
