Boston College Defeats Stony Brook 65-51 in Scrimmage
Boston College Men’s Basketball defeated Stony Brook 65-51 in a scrimmage Saturday afternoon, closing out their preseason schedule. Jeff Goodman of ESPN first reported the score.
The Eagles, who previously defeated Bryant and lost to #23 Seton Hall in preseason scrimmages, were led by Ky Bowman’s 10 point, 11 rebound, 8 assist performance.
Although this was a “secret scrimmage” and no members of the media or public were in attendance, EagleAction has learned some key details from the game, per sources.
-Jerome Robinson didn’t play and knee tendinitis was listed as the reason, but expect him to be 100% ready to play in the Eagles’ season opener vs. Maine next Friday.
-Freshman guard Avery Wilson, who had been dealing with a back injury for much of the fall, saw his first action of the season, finishing with 6 points in limited minutes. Our source has said Wilson looked very impressive considering how many practices he has missed.
-Junior Jordan Chatman led the Eagles in scoring with 19 points.
-Sophomore Nik Popovic posted a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
-The BC coaching staff was very pleased with the Eagles’ defense, as Stony Brook was held to just 24% shooting from the floor.
-Coach Christian experimented heavily with lineups in this game, and many key players didn’t play as much as they will in the regular season.
