At 6-foot-6 and 325-pounds, Madison O'Connor of Pottstown (Pa.) Pottsgrove is one of the more intimidating junior offensive linemen in the region. The Boston College coaching staff has been recruiting O'Connor for months, and continues to do so, in the hopes of getting the big junior on campus for a visit.
"Rutgers, Penn State, Alabama, Temple, Boston College, Pitt and Nebraska are showing the most interest now," said O'Connor.
While being recruited by Boston College for several months now, O'Connor has picked up more and more information on the program.
"They produced some top notch players there, like Matt Ryan, and the defensive tackle for my favorite team, B.J. Raji of the Packers," said O'Connor. "I'd love to go to a game, but it's a little far."
Coach Ryan Day has been recruiting O'Connor for the Eagles.
"He's a pretty cool guy," said O'Connor. "He was very respectful when I met him."
While distance is playing a factor in his ability to visit this fall, O'Connor will be making a few other visits.
"I'm attending this Saturday's Pitt/Notre Dame game, sometime in early October I am heading up to Rutgers, on November 12th I'll be going to the Penn State/Nebraska game and hopefully the Wisconsin/Penn State game on Thanksgiving weekend," said O'Connor.
O'Connor, who is more likely to visit BC during the spring, discussed what he hopes to learn during his visits.
"I hope just to be able to watch good games, meet the other recruits and be able to talk with the coaching staff and the offensive line coach," said O'Connor.
On the field, O'Connor is happy with how his junior season is moving along.
"It has been very good," said O'Connor. "Our offensive line is very good. I've been getting better and better each week. Lifting weights and running the track daily has been a big help."
