Boston College football is losing its starting quarterback. Not Anthony Brown, of course--Darius Wade, the graduate student who was behind center for the final three games of 2017. Wade announced the news via his personal Instagram feed.

Wade came into BC as a starter-in-waiting. A star in Middletown, Del., Wade backed up Tyler Murphy in 2014 before preparing for the big role in 2015. But after just three games, Wade broke his ankle thanks to Nile Lawrence-Stemple against Florida State at home that caused him to redshirt the year. Unfortunately for Wade, head coach Steve Addazio brought in Kentucky transfer Patrick Towles to start in 2016, leaving Wade on the bench. In 2017, Brown won the starting job out of camp, but Wade took over once Brown went down with an injury.

He finished the season completing 62 of 102 passes for 736 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Brown's primary backups are now walk-on John Fadule and freshman E.J. Perry.
