While the Phil Jurkovec story has officially ended as far as his time at BC, it’s just beginning at Pittsburgh.

The native son is heading home for one final season after spending the last three at The Heights. For the first time since entering the transfer portal and then committing to the University of Pittsburgh, Jurkovec had two social media posts on Thursday night, “officially” declaring he’s headed home while also thanking Boston College.

“I’m navigating my football career and after serious consideration, I entered the transfer portal and have signed with the University of Pittsburgh for my final season of eligibility,” he wrote in his Pitt post, with a picture of him in a blue Panthers jersey, with gold numbers on the shoulders and a big No. 15 in gold letters on the front.

“I am incredibly grateful to Coach Narduzzi for this opportunity and am thrilled to work again with Coach Cignetti and Coach DiBiaso. I cherish the chance to come home and compete for the city of champions.#H2P”His post thanking Boston College was posted al simultaneously.

“BC Nation,I would like to thank Boston College for the opportunity to contribute to the football program these past three years. Coach Hafley has been an inspiring mentor and Fr. Jack has been a constant source of wisdom and support. I with to thank the entire coaching staff, athletic trainers, team doctors, academic support and, most especially, my teammates. It has been an honor to battle alongside you. As a BC alum, I will forever wish the best for this esteemed institution.”

Now that everyone has a bit of closure after Coach Hafley spoke about Jurkovec during BC;s signing day, both Jurkovec and the Eagles can finally move forward and focus on their respective sessions. As I’ve written on this site before, the “Junk Week” hype could be all-time stuff if BC has a bounce-back season and Pitt continues to be a top contender in the ACC. The hope for all of us should be that Emmett Moorehead flourishes, Jurkovec stays healthy and becomes a true NFL Draft threat an epic duel ensues on a crisp fall night in October or November for everyone’s enjoyment.
