CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College senior forward Garland Owens will take part in the State Farm College Slam Dunk Championship at Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix on Thursday, March 30.

He will be one of eight men’s college basketball players to compete in the Slam Dunk Championship that will air live on ESPN at 10 p.m. ET. Owens was recognized and invited as one of the most dynamic dunkers in the nation.

Owens will be the second Boston College player to compete in the event as Jonathan Beerbohm took part in it back in 2001. A complete list of participants will be released at a later date.

Intersport, producers of the event, invites 24 of the nation’s elite men’s and women’s college basketball players to compete in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships (eight dunkers, along with eight men’s and eight women’s shooters).
