Decision close after Golden visit

Aside from dealing with their practice on Saturday, the BC coaching staff also had a chance to host three-star athlete Malik Golden of Cheshire (Conn.) Academy. More importantly, this visit turned out to be Golden's last, as he is planning to announce his final decision on Wednesday night, and the Eagles are in his final four.

Golden will make his announcement on Wednesday at approximately 8 p.m. and decide amongst BC, Penn State, Iowa and Connecticut.

On Friday, Golden took a visit to Penn State, and then attended a practice at BC on Saturday.

"The visits went well," said Golden. "I saw both teams practice and I talked to all the coaches."

While Golden had already taken visits to both schools, he was able to learn a few new things during his latest excursions.

"It was good to see both of them practice," said Golden, who is 6-foot-1 and 185-pounds. "At Penn State I took a tour, I talked to some players and it went great. At BC I did the same, and overall both visits were great."

Golden gave some more insight on his interaction with the BC coaching staff during his visit.

"I sat in on a meeting to see what things were like," said Golden. "The coaches are great teachers and the players learn a lot from them."

The experience of watching a practice was also beneficial to Golden.

"I learned how hard they work and how much the coaches expect from the players," said Golden, who mentioned that a majority of his attention was set on the wide receiver group. "They have some talent there, but I think I could fit in."

Listed as an athlete, Golden is being recruited as both a wide receiver and a defensive back.

"Both BC and Penn State are the same," said Golden. "They are going to give me a chance to play anything I'd like. I don't have a preference though. Wherever the team needs me, I'll play."

Recently, Golden mentioned that he may end up taking an official visit to Iowa no matter where he commits to beforehand. Is this plan still a possibility?

"Possibly," said Golden. "I'm going to talk it over with my coaches and parents, just because I've only been out there once."

Golden will prepare for his upcoming decision by comparing several factors in each of the four schools. He discussed a few of his top factors.

"First is comfort," said Golden. "There also has to be a good balance between football and academics."

Finally, Golden discussed his personal preparation for his upcoming senior season at Cheshire Academy.

"Since I might play corner in college, I'm working on improving my coverage skills," said Golden. "I'm also working on my receiving skills, because you can always get better."
