Callinan hopeful about offer

Charles Callinan recently took an unofficial visit to Boston College and things could only have gone better if the Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter's Prep wide receiver left with an offer.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound prospect did not get an offer from the Eagles yet but Callinan said he had an outstanding time with Boston College's coaching staff and he loved the campus.

"It was fun," Callinan said. "I went up for an unofficial and watched spring practice and hung out with the coaches and toured the campus so it was great.
"I didn't really expect the campus to be that nice. I hadn't heard that much about it but I got there and I really liked how the campus is all enclosed. It's not really spread out and I really like that. I like how the classrooms are right in the middle and the dorms are surrounding it so the campus is cool."
Callinan, who has offers from Connecticut and Rutgers so far, said he hit it off with coach Frank Spaziani and assistant coach Bill McGovern. His conversations with the coaching staff went great and that's why he likes Boston College so much.
"I talked a lot with coach McGovern and coach Spaziani," Callinan said.
"During practice coach Spaziani would come over and talk with me and my mother and tell us everything that was going on and how everything works. I was talking to coach McGovern pretty much the rest of the time about everything. He was answering my questions about BC and the campus and student life and how everything works out."
Boston College is showing a lot of interest in Callinan, who could also switch to defense if needed there, but the coaches said they're still reviewing his film. No offer has come yet but the St. Peter's Prep standout could learn within weeks.
If the Eagles offer, Callinan said he'd strongly consider another trip this spring or summer to get better acquainted with everything Boston College can offer.
"Coach McGovern said they're still in the process of evaluating my film so he said in the next few weeks I should know about an offer," Callinan said.
"If they offer I will definitely take a trip back up there for another practice or the spring game. It's a school I definitely liked and a school I'll consider as I make my decision."
This month, Callinan said he's hoping to visit Virginia and Notre Dame. Other than those two trips, nothing is planned at this point.
