BOSTON(AP) Montel Harris ran for 143 yards and three touchdowns to lead Boston College past Rhode Island 42-0 on Saturday in the schools' first meeting since 1917.
Backup quarterback Dominique Davis added a 24-yard touchdown run for the Eagles (3-1).
Derek Cassidy was held under 200 yards passing for the first time this season, finishing 26-for-41 with three interceptions and 189 yards for the Rams (1-4).
Rhode Island lost its fourth straight since winning its season opener against Monmouth.
Rock star Bruce Springsteen, whose son is a freshman at BC, watched the game from the president's box. They played his hit ``Glory Days'' over the PA system when the NCAA champion hockey team was honored on the field at halftime.
After the Eagles' offense sputtered, collecting only two first downs and 32 yards in three first-quarter series with starting quarterback Chris Crane, Davis led them to four consecutive scores after an early three-and-out.
Harris ran five consecutive times for all of the 56 yards of the drive - scoring from 5-yards - to give BC a 7-0 lead 4:07 into the quarter.
The Rams went three-and-out on the ensuing possession before Davis' 24-yard nifty run through the URI defense made it 14-0. He went up the middle before a quick stop-and-go move at the 5 faked out a defender and he trotted into the end zone.
Jeff Smith capped a five-play, 47-yard drive - when he carried the ball on every play - with a 7-yard TD to make it 21-0. Harris' 5-yard scoring run with 17 seconds left in the opening half made it 28-0.
Crane, booed in the opening half of BC's win over Central Florida last Saturday, played the third quarter. He finished 1-for-4 for 6 yards.
Harris' third TD of the game, a 3-yarder coming with 5:42 left in the third quarter, made it 35-0. Linebacker Mark Herzlich returned an interception 60 yards for the final TD.
Most of the second half was played in a steady rain.
It was the seventh meeting of the schools, and the first since Nov. 3, 1917. BC has won five.
