Eagles announce signing class
CHESNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College football team announced its 30 signees for 2014 today, a group that includes players from 10 different states as well as 12 from New England.
The Eagles picked up 16 offensive players - five offensive linemen, three running backs, three wide receivers, two quarterbacks, two athletes and one tight end.
BC bolstered its defense by signing 14 players, including six defensive linemen - and four linebackers. Four defensive backs were added to the secondary.
Kicker/Punter Mike Knoll will also join the Eagles.
The group of signees includes the list of seven early enrollees that were previously announced.
Sherman Alston, Wide/Receiver Athlete, 5-6, 165, Saint Joseph Regional HS/Fairview, N.J.
Earned third-team all-state honors, first-team all-county recognition and first-team All-Non-Public honors as a senior in 2013 helped lead Saint Joseph's to three state championships recorded 201 carries for 1,197 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2013 concluded his high school career with 2,656 rushing yards also recruited by Albany, Bryant, Delaware and New Hampshire.
Jon Baker, Offensive Lineman, 6-3, 300, Millis HS/Millis, Mass.
Twice earned Tri-Valley League Lineman of the Year honors (as a sophomore and junior) twice served as team co-captain earned Boston Herald and Boston Globe All-Scholastic honors in 2012 and 2013 started 41 games and helped lead Millis to Tri-Valley League small titles in 2011 and 2012 also recruited by Connecticut, Harvard, Holy Cross, Massachusetts, Michigan State, Ohio, Old Dominion, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple and Yale.
Kevin Bletzer, Linebacker, 6-2, 200, Catholic Memorial HS/Medfield, Mass.
Two-time team co-captain twice earned the team's most valuable player award and earned all-conference honors captured 2013 Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association All-State Super 26 recognition earned All-Conference Player of the Year honors as a senior earned Boston Herald and Boston Globe All-Scholastic honors as senior three-sport athlete at Catholic Memorial who served as team captain in each registered 211 career tackles for loss and nine career interceptions.
Kevin Cohee Jr., Defensive Lineman, 6-4, 240, Robury Latin/Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Twice earned All-Independent School League honors twice served as team captain registered 20 tackles, including one sack, and two interceptions recorded one interception returned for a touchdown also excelled on the lacrosse field also recruited by Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Allen Dawson, Defensive Back, 6-0, 192, Cheshire Academy (Conn.)/Boca Raton, Fla.
Earned 2013 All-Colonial League honors helped lead Cheshire Academy to the 2013 Dan Rourke Bowl Championship registered 29 tackles, five interceptions, two fumble recoveries and nine pass break-ups in 2013 gained All-Conference honors as a senior defensive back at Pine Crest High School in 2012; recorded 50 tackles, three interceptions and four pass breakups that season also recruited by Buffalo and Western Michigan.
Nat Dixon, Wide Receiver, 6-4, 190, Mosley HS/Lynn Haven, Fla.
Earned 2013 all-state second-team honors after registering 43 receptions for 1,005 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior receiver twice earned All-Bay County Team recognition in 2012 and 2013 captured 2012 all-state honorable mention recognition after recording 36 receptions for 662 yards and four touchdowns a versatile athlete who captured the 2013 District Championship in the high jump also recruited by Alabama State, Chattanogga, Elon, South Florida, Troy, Western Kentucky and Wofford.
Troy Flutie, Quarterback/Athlete, 6-0, 170, Natick HS/Natick, Mass.
Earned ESPNBoston.com Massachusetts Mr. Football honors after completing 288 passing attempts for 3,027 yards and a state-record 47 touchdowns as a senior quarterback in 2013; also rushed 93 times for 824 yards and six touchdowns earned all-state honors from ESPNBoston and captured Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association Super 26 recognition threw for 9,014 career yards and a state-record 112 touchdown passes during his high school career; accumulated 12,616 all-purpose yards also recruited by Bucknell, Delaware, Massachusetts, NC State, Syracuse and Temple.
James Hendren, Offensive Lineman, 6-7, 268, Dexter School/Newton, Mass.
Earned 2013 New England Prep School Athletic Conference Lineman of the Year recognition also earned 2013 Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association All-State Super 26 honors also recruited by Arkansas, Harvard, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Ohio, Old Dominion, Penn State, Princeton, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Yale.
Jon Hilliman, Running Back, 6-0, 215, Saint Peter's Prep/Jersey City, N.J.
Captured 2013 MaxPreps All-America honors earned all-state recognition earned 2013 All-Non-Public first-team honors as well as all-county first-team recognition became the school's first 2000-yard rusher carried 216 times for 2,007 yards and 33 touchdowns as a senior; also caught 12 passes for 148 yards and one touchdown also recruited by Alabama, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, UL Lafayette, Maryland, Miami (FL), Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, North Carolina, NC State, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Stanford, Tennessee, UCF, Vanderbilt, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Mike Knoll, Kicker/Punter, 6-1, 200, Walsh Jesuit HS/Copley, Ohio
Ranked as the third-best punter in the nation earned second-team All-Ohio and first-team AP All-District honors in 2013 tallied Beacon Journal All-Star honors as a senior as well converted all 27 extra-point attempts made 9-of-11 field goals with a long of 45 yards recorded an average of 40 yards on 34 punts 35-of-50 kickoffs were touchbacks also recruited by Air Force, Miami (OH), Purdue and Toledo.

Earned first-team all-state honors twice was named to the first-team offensive all-conference team three times and the first-team defensive all-conference team twice distinguished as the Tri-County Paper Player of the Year, as well as the Progress Paper Player of the Year twice received an invitation to the Chesapeake Bowl notched 56 tackles, 2.5 sacks, three interceptions, one fumble recovery and one safety in 2013 after finishing 2012 with 52 tackles, 12.5 sacks and four fumble recoveries also recruited by Arizona, Bucknell, Kent State, Temple, Towson and Rutgers.

Earned First-Team 8A All-State honors in 2013 helped Winter Park to metro and district championships in 2013 recorded 20 receptions for three touchdowns in 2013 and 23 receptions for 480 yards and two touchdowns in 2012 also won the2013 4A District Champion in 300-Hurdles and Triple Jump also recruited by Appalachian St, Arizona, Cincinnati, Illinois, Iowa St, Marshall, North Carolina, USF and Western Michigan.

Earned MSG First-Team All-State honors in 2013 also tallied first-team all-West Jersey honors twice garnered second-team All-Non-Public accolades in 2013 and was named to the third team in 2012 tallied 78 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss and 15 sacks as a senior in 2013 and recorded 33 tackles, seven sacks and one recovered fumble in 2012 was a 2013 Tri-County Wrestling Champion also received offers from Northern Illinois and Western Michigan.

Ranked the No. 1 recruit in Connecticut by ESPN earned first-team All-ECC Large honors three times and first-team CHSCA All-State honors in 2013 garnered the National Underclassmen Combine (NUC) Overall MVP three times rushed 131 times for 983 yards and 17 touchdowns during 2013 and accumulated 954 yards and 15 touchdowns on 90 carries, averaging 10.6 yards, in 2012 also received offers from Clemson, Connecticut, Florida, Iowa, Massachusetts, Ohio St, Pittsburgh, Texas Tech and UCLA.

Earned Second-Team Class 5A All-State and All-Treasure Coast Region honors in 2013 captured All-Treasure Coast Defensive Player of the Year recognition completed the 2013 season with 107 tackles and 6.5 sacks after recording 140 tackles, 43 tackles for a loss, six sacks, two interceptions and six recovered fumbles during 2012 also recruited by Massachusetts, Maryland, Tulane, UTEP and Western Michigan.

Earned first-team all-state honors in 2013 also tallied Daily News All-Catholic League accolades scored 14 touchdowns as senior to go along with 622 receiving yards on 32 receptions notched 426 yards on 33 receptions with eight touchdowns as a junior also recruited by James Madison, Massachusetts, Rutgers, Temple and Toledo.
