Render wraps up senior season
Indianola offensive lineman Keegan Render knew before his senior year of football kicked off that he would be signing with the University of Iowa in February. That didn't stop him from pouring in all of his time and attention to becoming a better player this fall for the Indians.
"I thought we had a good season but it didn't finish how we wanted it to. We wanted to win a playoff game but it was a matchup that wasn't in our favor. It was a good season but we always wanted more."
Render felt that he was able to learn a few things about pushing himself as a player while playing both offensive and defensive line.
"I made strides knowing that I can always go farther into a game playing both ways than I thought I could. Offensively, I have to finish blocks more and I felt like I did that more this year."
A winter sport and the weight room are what Render will be focusing on going forward.
"I'll be planning to work out for the next couple weeks before basketball starts. I'll be doing that and we have lifting class during school. It is a class so that helps out a lot to get a lift in."
Render continues to hear from the Hawkeye coaches on the recruiting front.
"I always get letters from them every two or three days. I have had some contact with them on Facebook and Twitter. I've also been talking to Coach Morgan or Brian Ferentz."
There have been multiple trips this fall to Iowa City.
"I've been to three games (Western Michigan, Northwestern, and Wisconsin). I've been able to talk to the coaches in person and watch them play."
