Hawks after Connecticut DL

When Iowa added D.J. Hernandez to their coaching staff as a graduate assistant this off-season, an increased recruiting presence in his home state of Connecticut came along with him. One of the first calls that Hernandez made for the Hawkeyes was to Greenwich head coach Rich Albonizio to learn more about his star defensive lineman, Jack Wynne.

"D.J. Hernandez called me up after he got hired," Albonizio said. "He's a Connecticut graduate and was a great player and of course Aaron Hernandez is his brother. Anyway, we had a good talk and once he saw Jack on film, right away he loved him. He brought the film to Coach Ferentz and they offered."
