October 17, 2013Chandler Cox prides himself on being a do-it-all player on offense for Apopka (Fla.) and Boston College has the kind of offense that could put him to good use.
Now 6-foot-2 and 220-pounds, Cox does a little bit of everything for Apopka. He's even spent some time at quarterback where he has passed for 400 yards. He's also rushed for around 600 and caught a few passes, too.
"I just got offered by Boston College [on Tuesday] and got offered two weeks ago by the University of Kentucky and New Mexico," he said.
The BC offer came as a surprise but a pleasant one.
"I hadn't gotten any letters from them at all," he recalled. "One of their coaches showed up at practice on Monday and watched me there. Then they offered me. That was the only time I had ever heard from them. I was pretty excited because I know they have a great tradition and I've always watched them on T.V."
While Cox likes BC's tradition he does have one concern that the Eagles might not be able to do anything about, besides trying to give him a different perspective.
"I like big cities. I'm not a big fan of the cold," he said with a laugh. "But I'll play anywhere."
Cox admitted that he grew up a big fan of Florida and the Gators are probably at the top of his list for now.
