Athlete set to visit BC again
Justin Rowland
EagleAction.com John Van Allen has already spent some time at Boston College and he's hoping the Eagles decide to offer soon. He will be in Chestnut Hill again next month.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound athlete from Avon (Conn.) Old Farms told EagleAction.com that he will be at BC about a month from now.
"I'm visiting (March) 24 for a visit. I believe it's just going to be an unofficial visit," Van Allen said.
"I'm going to sit down with the coaches and their academic support team and meet everybody and see everything."
Van Allen attended BC's game against Florida State in the fall and he was hoping to make the junior day at the end of January but exams had just started and he missed that trip.
"I'd say I've got a pretty good amount of interest in them. They've been recruiting me for quite some time. Hopefully when I go down they'll offer me," he said.
"The coaches have just said they want to get me there. They've been recruiting me the longest out of all the schools recruiting me."
Van Allen has also been to Maryland, UConn and UMass for visits.
"I really liked Maryland a lot. It's a great campus that's just beautiful. It seems like a great coaching staff and everything. They've got a good program and that's something I would want to be a part of. I still want to get a chance to visit everybody, though.
"UConn, same thing. It's right there close to home. They've got great facilities and same thing with the coaching staff."
Maryland and UMass are recruiting Van Allen as a safety while UConn and Boston College are recruiting him as either a wide receiver or a safety.
