-For Sunday's scrimmage there was a new look secondary. C.J. Jones and Al-Louis Jean were at cornerback and Jim Noel and Spenser Rositano played at safety. For the second unit, Manny Asprilla and James McCaffrey played on the corner, and Dominique Williams and Hampton Hughes played at safety.
Of course missing from that two deep wasDominick LeGrande and Okechukwu Okoroha who were dressed but did not participate in the scrimmage.
"They are situations where they needed a rest and we needed to look at some guys and some other situations there. We've got to develop some depth," said Spaziani.
Noel was moved to corner at the start of the weekend. Spaziani was non-committal when asked if Noel would be staying at safety.
"He has that experience there so that's why we were able to give him some experience at corner so we've created some depth. Who's the best strong safety? We'll figure that out."
"We need more Jimmy Noel's. Where he can help us best doesn't matter to Jimmy and it certainly doesn't matter to the coaching staff. Whatever we feel that will make us the best we will settle in. We got what we set out to do. We think he's interchangeable," said Spaziani.
-Nate Richman remained sidelined with a back injury. Richman was dressed and did some light workouts with the team before the scrimmage.
"We are moving forward with him as like a bonus. We love Nate and we're a better football team with him in there. But you need to be there at practice for the cohesiveness to be there," said Spaziani.
With Richman sidelined some players got moved around on the depth chart. John Wetzel, Ian White, and Emmett Cleary remain in their regular starting spots. Mark Spinney has moved from center to left guard and Andy Gallik took over as the starting center.
"If Richman is not available that's what we have determined is our best. Gallik has come a long way and given us that option," said Spaziani.
-Andre Williams was forced to leave early in the scrimmage with what was determined to be a sprained ankle. The team is off tomorrow so it will give Williams at least one day of rest.
-Josh Bordner returned to the lineup and was the first quarterback out with the second unit.
"Josh missed a little bit because of his back. It's like we were for two years trying to figure out who was number one now we've moved that problem to who is number two. We have the guys competing. We need a few more days before we settle on that," said Spaziani.
