Friday Night Lights: Stats, scores and more

Orangebloods.com The high school football season is upon us and if there's anything to learn after the first few hours of a new season, it's that the Texas Longhorns have a lot of incredible football players in their 2011 recruiting class. From David Ash to Joe Bergeron to Quandre Diggs, there were star performances all over the place on Friday night. Here's the full breakdown.
Texas commits
QB - David Ash - Belton
Statline: Ash completed a school-record 31 of 47 passes for 374 yards, three touchdowns (3, 7 and 27) and an interception in Belton's 36-27 loss to Abilene.

RB - Malcolm Brown - Cibolo Steele
Statline: Plays San Antonio Madison tonight.

RB - Joe Bergeron - North Mesquite
Statline: Bergeron rushed for 273 yards and a touchdown (79 yards) on 23 carries in a 22-21 loss to Rowlett.

WR - Jaxon Shipley - Brownwood
Statline: Shipley caught three passes for 52 yards, while also returning two punts (59 and 80 yards) for touchdowns in a 56-19 win over Gatesville.

WR - Miles Onyegbule - Arlington
Statline: Onyegbule did everything in a 49-48 win over Plano East, as he rushed for 212 yards and four touchdowns, while completing 18 of 32 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns.

TE - M.J. McFarland - El Paso Eldorado
Statline: McFarland caught eight passes for 119 yards and a touchdown in a 23-20 loss to Las Cruses.

OL - Josh Cochran - Hallsville
Statline: Cochran lead a Hallsville offense that outgained Pleasant Grove 418 yards to 171 yards in a 52-0 win. Hallsville rushed for 274 yards on the ground, with 199 in the first half.

Statline: Lake Travis takes on Austin Westlake on Saturday night.

Statline: Behind the blocking of Hutchins, DeSoto tallied 262 yards of offense (141 rushing/221 passing) in a 56-35 win over Leander.

OL - Christian Westerman - Chandler (Az.) Hamilton
Statline: Hamilton rushed for 276 yards on 32 carries, while totaling 346 yards of total offense in a 43-13 romp over St. Mary's.

Statline: Westfield did not have a game in zero week.

DT - Quincy Russell - San Antonio Sam Houston
Statline: Russell and Co. stonewalled Brackenridge's running game to the tune of 34 yards on 32 carries, while limiting them to 152 yards of total offense in a 42-13 win.

DE - Cedric Reed - Cleveland
Statline: Caney Creek only totaled 235 total yards of offense (48 passing), but they found a way to slip by Cleveland by a 24-22 score.

Statline: Edmond and Co. blasted Arp to open the season by a 44-14 score.

LB - Chet Moss - Cedar Park
Statline: Moss and Co, limited Westwood to 122 yards rushing on 22 carries in a 31-7 win over Round Rock Westwood.

LB - Kendall Thompson - Carthage
Statline: Carthage opened the season with a 41-26 win over Jacksonville, as the defense limited Jacksonville to 77 yards rushing on the night and only four in the second half. Carthage did allow 180 yards through the air.

DB - Sheroid Evans - Sugar Land Dulles
Statline: Evans did not play in a 24-233 win over Alief Hastings because of a hamstring injury.

Statline: South Houston opens the season on Saturday night against Humble Atascocita.

DB - Mykkele Thompson - San Antonio Stevens
Statline: Thompson rushed for 102 yards and a touchdowns (7 yards) in a 28-7 loss to Roosevelt. Thompson was eight of 13 through the air for 42 yards.

Ath - Quandre Diggs - Angleton
Statline: Diggs rushed for 276 yards and three touchdowns (70, 84 and 30) on 24 carries in a 49-28 loss to Friendswood. He also added a 63-yard touchdown reception.
